Let's talk about why Gen Z should totally check out Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. This comedy classic from 2004 pretty much marked the beginning of the Apatow Era of comedy in film and here are just a few reasons Gen Z should check it out. As always though, if you don't feel like diving into the entire film, I've stripped out my favourite scenes and remastered them for Verticle Viewing.

1. Will Ferrell at His Best

Will Ferrell, the king of goofy comedy, plays Ron Burgundy, a clueless but lovable news anchor. His ridiculous antics and over-the-top confidence make for non-stop laughs.

2. Quotable Goldmine

Anchorman is packed with lines you'll want to drop into everyday conversation. From "San Diego" being loosely translated into "A Whale's Vagina" to Champ Kind wondering what "diversity" is, it’s a treasure trove of hilarious one-liners.

3. Star-Studded Cast

At the forefront you have Will Ferrell and Christina Applegate, but how about we throw in superstars Steve Carell and Paul Rudd, along with an uncredited signiicant role played by Vince Vaughn. Each character brings their own unique brand of humor, making the ensemble cast unforgettable. Including memorable performances by David Knoechner, Fred Armisen, Chris Parnell, Fred Willard, and even small appearances by Seth Rogen and Danny Trejo. Talk about the who's-who of 2000's comedy.

This movie is not to be taken too seriously. The plot is full of absurd and unexpected moments, like a news team battle royale and a jazz flute solo, both scenes "escalate quickly". The randomness keeps you on your toes and laughing throughout. If you take it for what it is, this comedy will leave you in stitches.
