Hot Tub Time Machine VV Zoomer Clips

Updated: Jul 27, 2024

Dive into the '80s with Hot Tub Time Machine. Includes clips from the film remastered for vertical viewing.

Alright, Zoomers, buckle up because we’re about to take a wild ride back to the '80s with a movie that’s as crazy as its title suggests: Hot Tub Time Machine. Yes, you read that right. A hot tub. Time machine. It’s a perfect blend of absurdity, double-nostalgia, and comedy gold that you absolutely need in your life.

The Wild Plot

Let’s set the stage: three friends, Adam (John Cusack), Nick (Craig Robinson), and Lou (Rob Corddry), are stuck in a rut with their lives. Their solution? A wild weekend at a ski resort to relive their glory days. Things take a turn for the bizarre when they find themselves transported back to 1986, courtesy of a malfunctioning hot tub. Along for the ride is Adam’s nephew, Jacob (Clark Duke), who wasn't even born in the '80s and is just as confused as you would be.

Nostalgia Overload

Now, what makes this movie a must-watch? First off, if you love the '80s vibe—neon colors, epic music, and outlandish fashion—this movie is a treasure trove. It nails the decade so perfectly that you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a time machine yourself. And since the movie was released in 2010, you get the double-nostalgic effect of early 2000's references along the way.

Iconic Cast Throwbacks

The movie brilliantly infuses some '80s icons into the cast, seamlessly blending nostalgia with its hilarious plot. Crispin Glover, who you, or your dad, might know as George McFly from Back to the Future, plays Phil, a bellhop with a wild story arc about his missing arm. Watching him in this film is like seeing a beloved character from your parents' old movies come to life in a whole new, twisted way.

And then there’s William Zabka, known by your generation from Kobra Kai, and to my generation as the quintessential '80s bully from The Karate Kid movies. He pops up in a short but memorable sequence that will leave you "gagging" 😂. That pun will make much more sense after you watch the film.

Seeing these legends in a modern comedy is like a nod to the past, wrapped in the not so distant past, with a little of the present sprinkled in for fun.

Relatable Themes

The comedy is top-notch, with a perfect mix of raunchy humor, witty one-liners, and outrageous situations. But underneath the craziness, the movie also hits on some pretty relatable themes. It’s about friendship, second chances, and the idea that sometimes you need to revisit the past to move forward. Plus, who hasn’t daydreamed about fixing their mistakes if they had a time machine? It’s a fun, reflective ride that makes you appreciate the present while enjoying a comedic blast from the past. All the while showing us that although a lot can change in 40 years some things just never do.

Why You Need to Watch It

In a nutshell, Hot Tub Time Machine is a feel-good, laugh-out-loud trip down memory lane (even if you weren’t there the first time around). It’s the perfect movie to watch with friends when you need a break from the present and a good dose of silly fun. So, grab some popcorn, crank up the neon, and dive into the hilarity. Trust me, you won’t regret this wild ride back to the '80s.
